RYA Level 2 powerboat training course
This two-day entry level course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence (ICC).
It focuses on low speed close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at planing speed and collision regulations.
The course will cover the following topics: launching and recovery, boat handling, securing to a buoy, anchoring, leaving and coming alongside, man overboard, anchoring, basic navigation, International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea and buoys. Assessment of competence will take place throughout the course and will focus on practical boat-handling skills.
After the course you will be self-sufficient powerboater in the right conditions, aware of your own limitations and those of your craft. You will be eligible to train for the RYA Safety boat qualification.
