May Junior Advanced RYA Training (Stage 4 and advanced modules)

The advanced RYA Training offers Stage 4 and advanced modules to suit the youngsters on the course.
OPEN TO NON-MEMBERS AND MEMBERS
This could include Seamanship, Start Racing, Sailing with Spinnakers etc. The training follows the RYA Syllabus and is delivered by our team of RYA qualified instructors. The RYA advanced modules build on the knowledge and experience learned through the previous stages and focusses on refining skills to improve boat handling and racing skills.
- Required experience - Sailing skills to the standard of Stage 3
- Content - Transferring pre-learnt skills, techniques and manoeuvres to sail crewed boats, enhance rigging, launching, recovery and practical skills to recover a person overboard
- Certificate issuing criteria - Can sail a double-handed boat on all points of sail. Launch and return to a beach, jetty or mooring in moderate conditions
- Format - Afloat
- Clothing - The training will be mostly on the water and children should be prepared for all kinds of weather. The ideal would be a shortie or long wetsuit which are available for a broad range of places including Decathlon and Mountain Warehouse / Trespass. If the forecast is good then shorts and t-shirt will be fine and might be more comfortable than a wetsuit if it is hot. The children will need shoes which will get wet during the course. The children will also need a change of clothes to wear on the way home should they get wet.
- Buoyancy aids - Buoyancy aids will be supplied for the course.

- De-brief and Finish: 16:30
