Easter Junior Beginner Sailing - RYA Stage 1 & 2

6th - 8 April 2026  ·  Barnt Green Sailing Club
2010143 1024xdne

The beginner training is aimed at members of Barnt Green Sailing club and is also provided for non-member children.

OPEN TO NON-MEMBERS AND MEMBERS

The course is aimed at children between 8 and 16 years of age and follows the RYA Stage 1 & 2 syllabus in sailing.

We have a fleet of junior sailing boats and RYA qualified instructors.  We offer a family friendly environment for the training.

  • Required experience - None
  • Content - Launching and recovery, sailing across the wind, turning around, steering and basic parts of the boat
  • Certificate issuing criteria - Able to sail across the wind, steer and understand the basic principles of sailing
  • Format - Afloat
  • Clothing - The training will be mostly on the water and children should be prepared for all kinds of weather. The ideal would be a shortie or long wetsuit which are available for a broad range of places including Decathlon and Mountain Warehouse / Trespass. If the forecast is good then shorts and t-shirt will be fine and might be more comfortable than a wetsuit if it is hot. The children will need shoes which will get wet during the course. The children will also need a change of clothes to wear on the way home should they get wet.
  • Buoyancy aids - Buoyancy aids will be supplied for the course.
  • Daily Schedule
    • Registration: 9:00
    • Briefing: 9:30
    • Off the Water: 15:00
