This two day practical course is aimed at adults from beginner level and improver offering Level 1 and Level 2 of the RYA Syllabus.
OPEN TO NON-MEMBERS AND MEMBERS
The two days will be a mix of theory and practical sailing with an emphasis on getting into the boats and on to the water as much as possible. We have a fleet of adult training boats which will be used through the course and we encourage participants to practice their skills at the family friendly club following the training.
- Required experience - None through to have sailed before
- Content - How to sail in all directions, including an awareness of launching and recovering
- Certificate issuing criteria - Able to sail confidently on all points of sail and make decisions in good conditions
- Format - Afloat
- Clothing - The training will be mostly on the water and you should be prepared for all kinds of weather. The ideal would be a shortie or long wetsuit which are available for a broad range of places including Decathlon and Mountain Warehouse / Trespass. If the forecast is good then shorts and t-shirt will be fine and might be more comfortable than a wetsuit if it is hot. You will need shoes which will get wet during the course. You will also need a change of clothes to wear on the way home should you get wet.
- Buoyancy aids - Buoyancy aids will be supplied for the course.
- Daily Schedule -
- Registration: 9:00
- Briefing: 9:30
- Off the Water: 16:00
- De-brief and Finish: 16:30
