John Preston

It is with sadness that we report the recent death of a true gentleman and long standing member of the sailing club. John Preston passed away peacefully at home a few days ago, in early February 2021. He will be missed by his wife, Rosemary and sons, Philip and James and their families. We shall miss him at the club too. Although he has not sailed for a couple of years he was a staunch member of the Lark fleet, ably crewed by Rosemary and later, of the Solo fleet. John was Commodore of the club for the years 2000/2001 and oversaw our millennium celebrations. He was always an ever willing member who turned out for work parties and open meetings. May he rest in peace and we extend our sympathy to Rosemary and her family.
