BGSC Guiding Principles

Our primary and over-riding concern is and must continue to be the safety of our Members and our visitors.

Please stay at home and do not come to the club if you have:-

  • a high temperature this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss of taste or smell This may be a prelude to other symptoms

All members of the sailing club are expected to act responsibly in line with Government guidance and to fully comply with the Club Rules and any additional requirements as advised by the Sailing Club Committee.

In the unlikely event of an incident, then an immediate risk to life takes precedence over all other considerations

It is the individual member's personal decision whether they choose to attend the club based on their attitude to risk and their individual interpretation of relevant guidance.

Members using the water should be competent under the prevailing conditions and must act on the instructions of the club rescue officer on duty
