RYA Powerboat level 1 & 2 training

10th - 11 June 2017, 08:30 - 17:00

Our main aim is to have fun safely. All participants MUST be able to swim and MUST wear a suitable buoyancy aid on or near the water (we can supply some if you do not have one but please tell us in advance).

If there is severe weather we reserve the right to cancel, although this is very unlikely.
The training is open to club members and non-club members.

The cost for members is £55, for non-members the charge is £180 but we offer a £50 discount on club membership should you subsequently join within 3 months of the course.

To book a place, click on the application form link at the bottom of this page, download and complete the form and send to adulttraining@bgsc.uk

Places will be available on a first come, first served basis.

You will be working towards an RYA certificate and we will supply a log book to keep this in.
Please arrive at 8:30am to start at 9:00. Off water about 4:30pm finish and debrief at 5:00pm.
We shall break for lunch. Please bring your own lunch, snacks and sun cream.

Kit List:

  • A packed lunch (full of carbohydrates!)
  • Life Jacket or Buoyancy Aid (if you do not have one – let us know beforehand)
  • Stabile clothing for the weather (anything for sunny clear days to raining heavy all day)
  • Waterproof anorak and trousers, or all-in-one.
  • At least two layers of warm clothing (not cotton – it wicks away the body heat when wet)
  • Non-slip trainers or better still wet boots, plenty of socks
  • Warm hat and gloves
  • Towel

Insurances:

  • The Club insures the boats that are hired from the RYA, and its own boats, but it does not take out personal injury insurance for the Trainees. You may wish to make arrangements yourselves.

Facilities:

  • Due to limited shelter around the lake you may want to bring umbrellas to protect yourselves from the sun or rain!
