Powerboat Training

The club regularly holds powerboat training courses for members. These are held over a weekend and follow the RYA syllabus. This provides members with training on how to operate the club safety boats to competently carry out duties. Courses offered include:

Level 1 Powerboat Course

A basic one day course which covers basic driving skills.

Level 2 Powerboat Course

2 day courses which cover basic driving skills to be able to operate a powerboat safely.

This course is aimed at those wanting to progress onto the safety boat course as well as potential instructors (Level 2 is a pre-requisite to the RYA Dinghy Instructor). Holders of Level 2 can apply for an ICC (International Certificate of Competence), essential for using powered craft in Europe.

Safetyboat Course

2 day courses covering all the rescue techniques required to be able to competently cover rescue boat duties. Those wishing to undertake the safety boat course should be holders of an RYA level 2 certificate or have suitable experience in operating powerboats.
