Oppies approaching a mark (left) while kids in Pico's receive intensive instruction (right) The club is very keen to ensure that it provides training for juniors, in a safe and fun environment. We are a recognised RYA Training Centre and RYA Volvo Champion Club. Our training is based on the RYA Young Sailors scheme syllabus, using qualified instructors, and takes place both on and off the water with regular debriefs. These courses are for children aged 6 to 16 years and are open to both members and non-members. We try to ensure that we cater for a wide range of abilities, from complete beginners to sailors competing at national competitions. The club has a training fleet of Optimists, cadets and Pico’s so it is not essential that you have your own boat.
It is important that parents also start to learn what sailing is all about so we ask that someone with parental responsibility is always at the club during the training.
