On Saturday 18th September we held our Cadet Open meeting. 6 boats only, all from our own club entered the event due to a clash with zone events. The meeting was won by Sailboard Class member Lewis Barnes, sailing a Cadet for the first time in an "open" meeting. We hosted the Enterprise Under 21 National Championship on 4th / 5th September. A report and gallery page is HERE. The event was sponsored by Noble Marine Insurance and locally, by Weatheroak Brewery. |

The club is very keen to ensure that it provides training for juniors, in a safe and fun environment. We are a recognised RYA Training Centre and RYA Volvo Champion Club. Our training is based on the RYA Young Sailors scheme syllabus, using qualified instructors, and takes place both on and off the water with regular debriefs. These courses are for children aged 6 to 16 years and are open to both members and non-members. We try to ensure that we cater for a wide range of abilities, from complete beginners to sailors competing at national competitions. The club has a training fleet of Optimists, cadets and Pico’s so it is not essential that you have your own boat.

The main training activities are 3 day events at the Easter and August Bank Holidays and then a series of Sunday Morning training sessions during late spring and the start of the summer. This Sunday Morning training is designed to build on skills learnt at Easter Training and help children to gain in confidence be able to start joining in with club racing. The dates are published at the beginning of each year following the first committee meeting. The club also organises training for adults members at various times and details will be posted on the website when available.

It is important that parents also start to learn what sailing is all about so we ask that someone with parental responsibility is always at the club during the training.
