Sunday, 10th January 2010, second Sunday of the Snowflake series, the following advice had been circulated by the Race Officer.

"Please be advised that there will be no Snowflake racing this Sunday (10th Jan.) as the lake at present is frozen over and unlikely to change.  The road to the Club is somewhat icy ( Fred has been trapped for 2 days) and there is a further downfall of snow predicted on Saturday night / Sunday morning.  As OOD for the day, I also consider the risk of hypothermia, particularly if capsize drill is performed, not an option that I or the rescue team wishes to be responsible for.  Many thanks for your understanding."    Gordon Padmore.  Commodore.  

Kate Brooks was outraged that her sailing had been curtailed so she went to the club to find out why.  She took the photo's below and admitted that Gordons decision to cancel racing was, after all, justified.
