Barnt Green Sailing Club - Gallery 019 Beating the Bounds. Chris Pack, Secretary of BGSC, reported... Barnt Green Sailing Club were pleased to welcome 34 walkers on Bank Holiday Monday 5th May who were reviving the old tradition of walking the Alvechurch parish boundary, also known as “Beating the Bounds”. The walk was arranged by the Alvechurch Village Society and Barnt Green Sailing Club was contacted by Andy Humphries, their main organiser of the event. The walkers set off on their 17 mile journey from Alvechurch at Picture below. More details about the Alvechurch Village Society can be found on this website. www.alvechurch-village-society.org.uk The "Bounds" walkers gather for a group photo before heading home to Alvechurch. Here is Andy Humphries reponse... Hi Chris On behalf of the Village Society, St Laurence’s Church and all the walkers who braved the early rain and mud, I’d like to thank you and your colleagues at the Sailing Club for making us so welcome on the Bounds walk. 26 walkers did the whole 17 miles and many more did parts of the route or supported us at one of the “feeding stations”. All the feedback was positive but especially the morning and afternoon refreshment breaks where there was real pleasure at being able to sit down in comfort and have a soothing drink. Your club did us proud will a superb view over the lake and some lovely cakes…..our rector (one of the main organisers) particularly enjoyed his cream tea ! I hope to do a summary of the day with some characteristic photos which may well end up in the Village magazine, Parish Office etc……a photograph is attached so you can get the flavour ! Thanks again….. Andy Humphries |
