Summer Regatta aka Flag Officers Day 2007 was on Saturday July 14th

The Commodore and his fellow Flag Officers invited all members to their special midsummer day.  A report and more photographs will appear here soon The Ladies Race was won by Helen Pennock in her Laser in a fresh breeze. There were seven entries. The Richard Murray trophy race was won by Gordon and Rose Padmore in their Enterprise. A successful BBQ was held in the evening which culminated in one of the sunsets of the year !

A delighted Helen Pennock was presented with great prizes by The Commodore and of course she keeps the lovely June Lennox Rose Bowl Trophy for a year.  Congratulations Helen !   Then followed the annual Richard Murray Trophy Race when Richard gives away some of his many trophies. The winners this year were Gordon Padmore crewed by his charming wife, Rose pictured below with a collection of prizes from Richard and from the Flag Officers. Presentation by Stuart Howe.

First boat over the line was the Lark of John and Rosemary Preston, however once the handicap had been worked out it was the Padmores in their Enterprise  who were the victors.  Well sailed !

The Ladies day races in 2006 consisted of a two race series. The victorious winner was Jill Easton who proudly received the June Lennox Ladies Trophy. It was presented by Commodore Stuart Howe, seen here back left. The Race officer was Brian Allen, Vice Commodore who commented that in spite of a beautiful day for the event, only four Ladies turned up to sail, quite a disappointment !  This year (2007) it is hoped that as the race will be run within the Flag Officers day the turnout will be a little higher. Come on you Girls, give Jill a run for her money when she defends her title !  2006 results :  1st Jill Easton, 2nd Pat Lewis. 3rd Karen Millington, 4th Floss Beckett.
