ANOTHER APPEAL FOR HELP!

The Club has again accepted the Enterprise Association’s invitation to host, for the fifth time, the Enterprise National Under 21’s Youth Championship on the weekend of the 6th / 7th  September 2008.  This is the equivalent to an additional Open meeting that not only raises the profile of the Club within the clubs around the country and various sailing publications, but also enables us to obtain extra revenue for the Club through bar takings, food, etc.   The weekend usually consists of 3 races on the Saturday with an evening social for all participants and on the Sunday, 2 races followed by prize giving which last year, was sponsored by Speed Sails, the sponsor of SailingBarntGreen Enterprise pages, click their logo to the left to visit their site.  We hope that they might sponsor the event in 2008 too!

For the first time, in 2008, we are holding a charity race open to all members of BGSC to take place in the afternoon, race start at 4.p.m, following the conclusion of the Under 21 championship.   More details will be announced as they become available.  We are hopeful for a massive turnout for this special event.

The Under 21 championship is an excellent opportunity for the younger Sailors within our Club to enter a prestigious event, providing they have the use of a members’ boat.  If you would be prepared to charter your boat to either a Club Member or visiting Sailor, please inform me of this as soon as possible, to offer potential competitors the opportunity to enter the Championship.

I would be grateful if all members of the Club including, Enterprise sailors over 21, to consider carrying out an extra duty on one of these two days.  In addition to the usual official positions needed to run the races, we are required to provide a Protest Committee consisting of 3 people, and catering on both days including, two lunches, an evening meal and breakfast.  I have set out below a tear off slip that you can copy and paste for printing. It lists the duty positions required for each day and I would be grateful if you could complete this and either hand it to me at the club, contact me by telephone on 01905 774588 or, if you prefer Email   michaelpickworth@msn.com   with your preferred duty.

Many thanks in anticipation.       Mike Pickworth
