Barnt Green Sailing Club - Club Events 2010 Duty Rota here Gear sales & wants 2010 calendar of events HERE Our second Open Afternoon on Saturday, 10th July was blessed with perfect weather...MORE One highlight was the hatching of four ducklings and Lisa sent the following message : "Mrs Quackles has had 4 ducklings, named Itsy, Bitsy, Teen & Weeny! First day on water today, put a lovely show on for open day, lets hope they survive the bigger predators". Pictures to follow!
Our first 2010 Club Open Day was on Saturday 15th May, MORE. Further Open Days are planned during 2010.

Dinghy level One 20th/21st March and 29th 30th May (six places each) Dinghy level two 3rd 4th April and 26th 27th June (six places each) These are all confirmed. Thank you. Merlyn Wilcox. A safetyboat course has been arranged for the same weekend as the SOLO OPEN 17th and 18th April. (on purpose and all agreed). Tom Hall will teach the course and on the Saturday the course will give safety cover for the Solo open. The course will continue on the Sunday. The course can accommodate SIX people. Thank you. Dear All, A huge thank you to all of you who helped at the BGSC Open Day on Saturday 16th May. Despite the inclement weather, we had a great turnout of visitors - hopefully a good proportion will join! One visitor in particular commented on the friendliness of the club, how welcome we made him feel and that we were more than happy to answer his questions (which was not the reception he had received at another local club!). Weekend of 24th / 25th May and we proudly host the Lark Class Youth National Championship (on 24th, 3 races with free entry to the Nationals for 3 categories BRILLIANT OFFER BY THE LARK CLASS followed by the BGSC Open meeting single handed race) The "Lark" party on the Saturday evening and on Sunday 25th, it's our Lark Open meeting. RS200 TRIAL SAIL EVENT ON SUNDAY 18TH MAY, POSTER HERE A report soon & gallery here Bob Suggitt held the first of his "Bob's Tuesdays" Lark training sessions on 6th May, several members turned up for some useful instruction. Bob was pleased to see new Lark owners and members from other fleets turning up, more details soon..... This message from our Sailing Secretary : We are currently short of the following duties: Thursday 8th May will be the first 2008 swim by the BRATs club, restricted use of the water by sailors, more... Our annual OPEN DAY for visitors / potential new members will be held on Saturday 10th May from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Weather permitting there will be sailing on display and trips in dinghies may well be arranged. Club members will be available to take guests around the club, refreshments will also be available from "Sally's Galley". This will be an ideal opportunity for local people who have an interest in dinghy/sailboard sailing to see what is on offer at your local, friendly sailing club. We hold Safety boat Courses, details will be confirmed later in the season. Level 1 & 2 Boat Handling and Safety Boat Courses Members are strongly advised to take these RYA recognised 1 & 2 day courses to ensure that they can competently carry out rescue duties. |
