2/11/07.  A superb evening was enjoyed with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places being presented by our Commodore's wife, Christine Howe, assisted for the last time in this role by Hon. Sailing Sec. Roger Ellis. He is standing down after many years of fulfilling this task and the club is duly grateful to him for his hard work.  At the end of prizegiving the Commodores trophy, which is awarded for outstanding achievement in the eyes of the Commodore, was presented to a very surprised Mandy Suggitt for services to Ladies Training, an initiative that she has devoted herself to for some years.  The club has never had so many Lady helms not just sailing but racing too.  Approximately 42 diners then did justice to Sally's lovely supper.  2007 Prize Winners,      Mandy's Mondays.

On Friday evening, the 2nd of November, we hold our annual prizegiving and supper is taking place at the clubhouse. Prize giving will start at 7.30pm followed by one of Sally’s scrumptious meals. Please book your meal with Sally tele:- 01527 878821 cost £7.50 children £4.00.   We have arranged this event on a Friday night to make it easier for our junior members to attend without worrying about school the next day, so we hope you will support the evening even if you are not a prize winner.  Polish up those trophies ready for presentation!                     Stuart,  Commodore.

Saturday, 20th October is the second work party day this autumn.  Please try to attend, they are great fun and there are loads of jobs to be done to make our club a better place. More details  here   Pictures of tarmac driveway project  here   Contact Stuart Howe or Bob Allen for further information.

Ladies Race day sailing for the June Lennox Rose Bowl on July 15th 2006

Two races were held and a fuller report will follow with the rest of the results when obtained. Race Officer Brian Allen commented that he was disappointed at a low turnout of only four boats and the timing of this event will have to be reconsidered for next year.

Flag Officers’ Day – Saturday 1st July

 Including the Richard Murray Trophy

There were 3 races, open to all members and all fleets, senior and junior with races run on a progressive handicap system with mass starts so sailors of all levels would have an equal chance of winning based upon an average lap time! Racing was followed by an evening BBQ.  20 took part in the races which were sailed in a shifty s'easterly and the first race was for a Richard Murray trophy (He has donated trophies for many years from his extensive stock of prizes won over decades of successful racing). It was won by Bob Suggitt with Rob Lennox 2nd and Hannah Lennox 3rd.  Three races were held overall and races two and three were on a handicap basis with another Murray trophy awarded for overall winner.  Ruth Lennox was 1st, Rob Lennox 2nd and Sarah Bown 3rd.

Congratulations to the winners.
