Notice of Race

Saturday 9^th September 2006

1         RYA Racing Charter

Competitors should note that Barnt Green Sailing Club has adopted the RYA racing Charter and that they will be required to undertake to sail in compliance  with the Charter, which can be found at the front of the RYA rule book (Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008), or at www.rya.org.uk/racing/charter.

2         Rules

Races will be governed by the ‘Rules’ as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2005-2008 except as they are changed by the Barnt Green sailing instructions, class rules, the prescriptions of the RYA and this Notice of Race

3         Conditions of Entry

3.1         The safety of the boat and its entire management, including insurance shall be the sole responsibility of the competitor(s) racing the boat.

3.2         All craft on the club premises (on land and on the water) must have full insurance cover, including third party liability to £2,000,000.  All craft intended to be used for racing must have appropriate insurance cover.

3.3         The race organisers shall not be liable for any loss, damage, death or personal injury howsoever caused to the owner/competitor, his skipper or crew, as a result of their taking part in the race or races. Moreover, every owner/competitor warrants the suitability of his yacht for the race or races.

4         Organising Authority

The organising authority is Barnt Green Sailing Club.

5         Eligibility

The event is open to all Cadet sailors.

6         Entry and Registration

6.1         The entry fee for the event will be £10.00.

6.2         Boats shall be entered by completing registration with the organising authority and shall produce:

- A completed entry form and entry fee

7         Event and Programme

7.1         There will be a briefing for all competitors at 10.00 on Saturday 9^th September

7.2         3 races are scheduled of which 2 constitute a series.

7.3         The Schedule of races is as follows:

ü      Saturday 9th September

o       Race 1    approx 10.30

o       Lunch

o       Race 2    approx 14.00

o       Race 3    ASAP after conclusion of race 2 (i.e. Back to Back)

                       Prize Giving at approx 16:30

8         Advertising and Sponsorship

Advertising will be restricted to Category A

9         The Course

The courses will be set on Barnt Green Sailing Club water.

The course will be posted on the Board outside the OD hut. A lead boat may be used.

10    Scoring

Discards

If 3 races are completed, one score will be excluded. If 2 races are completed, no scores will be excluded

11    Prizes

There will be prizes for the first three boats in addition to a range of prizes restricted to members of the Barnt Green Sailing Club.

12    Food and Refreshments

The galley will be open throughout the course of this event for Breakfast Lunch and Hot Drinks.
