Barnt Green Sailing Club Memo from Gordon Padmore, posted on 1st September 2011 Dear Member, Please read all sections of this memo, as some sections may be more relevant to you than others. This weekend, 3rd / 4th September, is the Enterprise National under 21’s Youth Championships and therefore, there will be no Saturday afternoon sailing or, Sunday sailing until after the Championships. Although I have not been asked as yet, there is the possibility that some of our younger members may need to have the use of another members Enterprise dinghy. If you are an Enterprise sailor, may I request that you consider lending your boat to one of our Juniors, to increase the chance of our Club winning this prestigious event. I would be grateful if you could notify me if you are prepared to Iend your boat, to enable me to put a junior in contact with you, my contact details are below, Following the Championships and to give members the opportunity to sail on Sunday afternoon, we shall be running the CHARITY RACE, the details of which are set out at the bottom of this notice - Please bear in mind that the race start is subject to the conclusion of the Enterprise Prize Giving. On Monday the 5th September, British Waterways will be commencing the repairs to the Dam and in order to get their heavy machinery, including a 5 tonne digger, on site, they propose to bring this equipment on to the top car park, along the tarmac path and down the second slipway on to the exposed shore and round to the works area. If your boat is parked / stored on the left hand side of the tarmac path going towards the OD box or, within 15 metres of the path going towards the second slipway, we need you to move your property away from the specified areas to ensure this does not get damaged. I apologise for the short notice regarding this request but I have only just been notified that the work is due to start so soon. I will be at the Club all weekend should you require further clarification, however, it would be better to move the boats after the Charity Race, as any space prior to then may be covered with tents. On Wednesday the 7th September, it is the last of the late summer series sailing and will be followed by the late season party. If you and your family wish to party the night away after the Wednesday night pursuit race, please sign up on the sheet in the clubhouse or, send an e-mail to me on gpadmore@opening-doors.org.uk or telephone me on 01562 730481 (evenings) by Tuesday 6th September. The meal, at the time of writing, is a surprise. – Go on, spoil your partner. On Sunday 18th September we have invited members of Ragley Sailing Club to join us in Club racing and hope you will make the visitors most welcome. I understand that there may be at least 1 Enterprise, 3 Lasers and 3 Merlin Rockets attending. I write to advise you of this invitation, to ensure the upper car park is left clear enough for the arrival of the additional boats and trailers. For your information, Ragley S.C have been given notice of their lease being terminated at the end of this year and the members are looking for a new home to continue sailing. Let’s make it BGSC I hope the above information is of help and I will see many members at the CHARITY Race -It’s in a good cause - details follow... Many thanks Gordon Padmore. Commodore
