3 Day Training Courses: Easter  -  Early Summer  -  August Bank Holiday

The Club is a recognised RYA Training Centre and RYA Volvo Champion Club. Our training is based on the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme. We provide courses for children aged 6 to 16 years, covering complete beginners to very experienced sailors. We have a considerable number of dinghies available for people to borrow, alternatively more experienced sailors are encouraged to bring their own boats, which must be insured.

Our main aim is to have fun safely. All participants MUST be able to swim and MUST wear a suitable buoyancy aid on or near the water (we can supply some if you do not have one but please tell us in advance).  If there is severe weather we reserve the right to cancel, although this is very unlikely. Depending on the weather wet suits are recommended, however, many changes of clothes, a waterproof top/ trousers, and trainers that can get wet, are fine. We have a “For Sale” table for buying and selling used sailing gear so you can replace gear that is too small.

The training is open to children of club members, and also to non-club members. The cost per child is £45 for the three days (plus £15 for non-members - deductible from membership if you subsequently join). We ask that someone with parental responsibility is at the club all the time that children are on the course.  This is to ensure that all children are happy, fed and warm throughout the day and that we fulfil our child protection responsibilities. The parents also learn what sailing is all about and what some of the strange words mean.

The success of this event is totally reliant on the generous support of the club. Course numbers have to be limited by the number of qualified instructors who are able to volunteer so it is advisable to book early.
